The Best Gin Advent Calendars of 2020

I do love a good advent calendar. And the past few years we’ve seen increasingly creative and indulgent offerings from retailers on the Christmas countdown front. As a big lovers of a good G&T, I’m particularly taken with some of the amazing gin advent calendars on the market. And here’s our pick of the best for 2020.

Alright, so let me level with you. I don’t buy into these 12 day advent calendars. Noooope. In my view, an advent calendar is 24 days. So we’re not settling for any half jobs here. There are lots of “advent calendars” that are actually just 12 days and if I got one of those I’d feel royally short changed.

So we’ve only included gin advent calendars with 24 days. Yes. 24 days. 24 gins. 24 small little pieces of happiness.

One of the best things about having a gin advent calendar is the brand discovery element. That’s why I’m still a member of Craft Gin Club. And this lets you try lots of different brands without committing the investment of a full bottle (only to find you’re not that keen!).

So for gin fanatics this is absolutely the best way to countdown to Christmas.

Blue Tree 2020 Gin Advent Calendar (Red)

So this is one of the higher priced of the gin advent calendars on our list.

But here’s what it has going for it:

24 gin miniatures and they’re 50ml bottles. Some advent calendars use 30s. That’s 24 double gins, ladies and gents.
Premium selections
Comes with a guide to making G&T cocktails

And what brands are in it?

Well, we don’t want to ruin it for you, ok. But here’s a few little spoilers. It contains (amongst others):

Aviation American Gin
JJ Whitley Plum Gin
Tarquin’s Cornish Dry Gin
Sipsmith Lemon Drizzle Gin
Edinburgh Gin’s Apple and Spice gin liqueur

And that’s just the tip of the ice berg. So while you will find supermarket staple gins in here (Gordon’s, for example) there are plenty of premium brands as well. And that would go some way to explaining its really positive reviews.

Blue Tree 2020 929 Gin Advent Calendar

The Boutique-y Gin Company’s advent calendar does offer 30 miniature gins. BUT there’s a key difference with this one – the bottles are 30ml compared with the 50ml in the other 3 gin advent calendars on our list.

So while this is the cheapest gin advent calendar on our list, it is not necessarily the best value.

The bottles are, however, very beautifully designed. And this is a stunning advent calendar for gin fans.
